Q&A

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

Casual to semi-formal. All wedding events will be outdoors. Weather on the North Shore can vary wildly, please keep an eye on the forecast and plan accordingly.

IS THERE A MINIMUM NIGHT STAY?

Yes, there is a two-night minimum under our room block. If you would like to attend but cannot meet the two-night minimum, please contact the bride and groom directly for other nearby lodging options. Please note you do not have to stay on-site to attend our wedding.

IS CASCADE LODGE PET-FRIENDLY?

Cascade Lodge is pet-friendly but only in the cabins and the basecamp. The main lodge does not allow pets. Please contact Cascade Lodge if you have questions.

ARE KIDS ALLOWED AT YOUR WEDDING?

While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adult-only event (besides immediate family) so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

Parking is free with your accommodations, all wedding sites are within walking distance. If you are not staying on-site there is parking at the restaurant.

CAN I BRING A PLUS ONE?

Since we are having a smaller more intimate wedding, and to stay within the venue capacity, we are only able to accommodate guests formally invited on your wedding invitation.

CAN I STAY ADDITIONAL NIGHTS?

Yes, of course. Willie and Lauren will be staying Thursday through Monday to enjoy a long weekend on the North Shore. We would love for you to join us for some or all of that. We only have the Friday-Sunday weekend blocked, so if you want to stay Thursday or Sunday night, you will need to book your lodging sooner rather than later.

WHAT WILL WE DO ALL WEEKEND?

We have a weekend itinerary of wedding-related activities as well as optional fun activities. There are also tons of awesome things to do in Grand Marais and Lutsen.

Oberg Mountain - Tucked away in the Superior National Forest between Tofte and Lutsen and part of the Superior Hiking Trail, this is a favorite among the leaf peepers in the fall.

  • Carlton Peak is a summit in the Sawtooth Mountains in southern Tofte Township. It’s a popular hiking spot for stunning views and great for leaf peeping.

Tettegouche State Park - Always a fan-favorite, this park has stunning views of Lake Superior and a stop at Palisade Head is always worth it!

  • Palisade Head is a great stop on your way up or down the shore to take in the stunning Lake Superior views from above. In the summer and fall, you can drive up to the top and park, making this a quick stop on your way!

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park - If you’ve never seen the Split Rock Lighthouse from the shore, this is a must-see! There are some great accessible hikes here, too, with great views of the lighthouse from near and far.
